Zemic BM14A Introduction
The Zemic BM14A is a heavy‑duty stainless‑steel compression load cell engineered for extremely high‑capacity industrial weighing systems. Designed for demanding environments, this hermetically sealed IP68 loadcell offers long‑term stability, high resistance to moisture, dust, and harsh weather, and excellent performance under continuous static loads. With capacities ranging from 10 tons up to 200 tons, the BM14A is widely trusted among heavy industrial load cells used in infrastructure and logistics. While it is not intended for tension measurement, its rugged design and integrated surge protection make it a near‑universal solution for large‑scale compression‑based weighing applications.
Installation
Correct installation is critical for safe operation and accurate measurement at high capacities:
1- Install the load cell on a flat, rigid concrete or steel foundation capable of supporting the full rated load.
2- Use the recommended rocker supports or mounting accessories to allow self‑alignment and avoid unintended bending forces.
3- Ensure that the load introduction surface is centered and clean to maintain proper force transfer.
4- Follow the specified mounting orientation shown in the datasheet for safe load transmission and overload protection.
5- In weighbridge or silo applications, proper mechanical limiters and lift‑off protection should be included in the system design.
Loading
To ensure reliable and long‑term performance:
1- Apply the load vertically in compression through the center of the load cell.
2- Avoid side loads, impact shocks, and uneven force distribution, especially during dynamic loading such as vehicle movement.
3- Although the BM14A supports 150% safe overload and 300% ultimate overload, loading should always remain within rated limits during normal operation.
4- This model is not suitable for tension applications; pull‑type forces can compromise accuracy and mechanical integrity.
5- After installation, conduct zero balancing and system calibration once the structure has fully settled.

Wiring
The Zemic BM14A uses a standard 4‑wire shielded cable connection:
- Green — Excitation (+)
- Black — Excitation (–)
- White — Signal (+)
- Red — Signal (–)
The cable features an industrial polyurethane jacket and integrated shielding for noise protection. To ensure stable signal transmission, connect the shield to ground at the weighing indicator side only.
