The PCT standard is a conformity marking used to demonstrate compliance with technical regulations of the Russian Federation and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Historically, PCT referred to the GOST‑R certification system in Russia; today, it is largely represented by the EAC (Eurasian Conformity) mark, though the PCT term is still widely used in industry to describe regulatory approval for weighing and measuring equipment entering these markets.

In the weighing industry, PCT/EAC compliance is mandatory for weighing instruments, load cells, indicators, and complete weighing systems that are placed on the market or used in commercial and legally regulated applications within EAEU member states, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan. Applications include truck scales, industrial platform scales, filling systems, hopper scales, and process weighing equipment.

PCT certification confirms that the equipment meets applicable GOST and EAEU Technical Regulations (TR CU / EAEU TR). These regulations address critical aspects such as electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), mechanical strength, environmental resistance, and metrological performance. For weighing equipment used in legal‑for‑trade applications, metrological approval is required in addition to general safety compliance, ensuring accuracy, repeatability, and long‑term measurement stability.

The conformity assessment process typically involves type testing in accredited laboratories, review of technical documentation, and in many cases factory audits or quality system verification. Depending on the product and its intended use, certification may be issued either for a single shipment or for serial production, with certificates usually valid for a limited number of years.
